I have not added new fish in over 4 years. I only have 2 fish left. 1 a murderes b**ch of a clown. The other a no nonsense hawk fish.
Wondering how I could or what I could add. I have a 40 breeder with soft coral and a few LPS.
1)Maybe I could try and add the new fish at night when the lights are off and the fish are sleeping. Hoping that when the lights come on the next day everyone will have territory claimed.
2) remove the clown and hawk for a few days?
3) add 4 or 5 different fish so the clown and hawk have no idea what to do
4) don't waist the time or money and let these 2 live life
Please let me know if you have any tips, tricks, or recommendations!

Unless you go to aggressive species tank, Eliminate at least the clown and/or both fish and restock.
small trigger such as Niger will work. Additional are watchman goby, coral beauty angel, kole tang.

I don't add fish often either. Last one was in December, before that 4 years. Added an Eibli (5th fish) with my existing Coral Beauty. I shut the lights down early and added it, then reduced lighting schedule by 4 hours a day next few days. It seemed to help with acclamation. 4 or 5 at once in a 40 may tip your bioload a bit too much. Just my two cents.

Never had a trigger!! She killed my last coral beauty I think. No other reason for the coral beauty 's death.
