Hello,

I am thinking of adding a sump on my 20g for more volume but would like to hear some input.

I’m not drilling the tank, I will use a Life reef hob overflow . Here ‘s my question, can I leave the existing pump on the chamber of the AIO or I have to put a new pump below along with sump?

Thanks in advance.

You will more than likely have to get a new pump as the stock pump may not be able to overcome the head pressure and circulate the water. When I added a sump to my BioCube 32 the stock pump could not push the water up to the display from the sump. I upgraded to a Sicce 1.5 and it does a good job and is very quiet.

I have the Mighy jet pump w/c is rated at 326 gph.
My question is, can I “leave” this pump on the AIO chamber?

Ahh. My bad. Unfortunately that's a little outside my experience.

All good :). Did u drill your Biocube, if not what hob overflow do u have? Thanks!

If I have no choice , pump will go below at the sump.

No drilling. I used the Eshopps AEO10100 Overflow Nano Box. I did have to make a few cuts to the hood to make it fit with the hood. I wanted to keep the hood because I have young children who I didn’t want to put stuff in the tank.

Came out good! I Where’s return pipe and how’s Eshopps overflow, no issues?

The return pipe is in the third picture. I still need to clean up the wires. It’s a work in progress. I have had the Eshopps overflow on it for about a year and it has not messed up once.

HOB overflows are notorious for running into issues that can potentially cause flooding. Looks good but get some leak sensors or something just in case.
