I'm in the process of adding T5 supplementation to my 3 AI Vega color LED lights. I currently have them mounted with the EXT tank mount rail system. My tank is 150g rimless and I currently like the clean look of how it's mounted.
Anyone have any pictures of AI LED and T5 setups that are not mounted in a hood? I'm trying to come up with something that looks good, tanks in the living room. Thanks!
Pic when I first set it up

If this is a retro T5 setup you're thinking about, even with a reflector on it, you'll get a whole bunch of light going into the room. I'd consider putting the retro into something....the first thing that comes to mind is an upsidedown rain gutter. Or maybe a length of PVC pipe (maybe 3" or 4") cut in half. Got to think what it could be mounted in to reduce light scatter into the room.

I would see if you can find somebody getting rid of a ATI fixture or maybe a TEK.. Remove the middle lamps and put the LED fixtures into the t5 fixture.

I saw some pics of people doing that and it looked pretty good. Can't seem to find a deal on a big enough light to put them in though.

Yes, I'm thinking about using the 4 bulb 48'' retro kit. I was thinking of making something out of thin wood and paint, but couldn't think of a good way to mount it. Also have been considering a floating canopy to mount everything into.
