I have a 90 gal tank with some Goniopora corals and I dose All for Reef as my main nutrients for my corals. However, I noticed that 3 out of 4 of them stay closed up. The lighting they're getting is about 50 PAR when I checked it. Flow is not harsh with another goniopora opening up as it should .

I see All for Reef already has Manganese in it but do you think I should try dosing Manganese to see if that will make a difference? Do i need to monitor the manganese levels or should I just dose according to the dosing instructions on the label?

Stick with the label . Goniopora are known to stay closed every once in a while and some time in my case for a week . Just make sure you keep your parameters correct and follow the course . Sometime a fish movement can cent them to close . How old is the tank ?

I am having success with all for reef and goniopora. I sent off an ICP and Manganese was definitely low, but it does not seem to be negatively affecting my goniopora.
It is most likely another issue or combination of issues besides low Manganese alone.
I run higher par at 200 or higher for all of mine. I know most people run less for gonis, but it’s working. I run high par because I have a shallow tank focusing on acropora. I also run pretty high flow as well.

Flower pot corals are expert level still........i have had them live for 4 years then die for no apparent reason. Nobody has figured out the secret sauce yet....we have been trying all the foods and snake oils know to man. Sometimes they just do good in a certain spot all by themselves. I wish we had the answer but at least we have more success than when i first started in the 80's

I got this one in October last year. It’s grown so much.

The other goniopora I grabbed in April this year. The long polyp one has really grown quickly. The short polyp types get really long polyps too sometimes.

The tank has been up for 1.5 years however the back glass broke in September this year and I had it replaced. Had to remove everything from the tank including the substrate to get that fixed so the tank was down for about 2 weeks before it was up and running again.

The color saturation is less now, but it’s growing well. The polyps got much more extended and color a bit less intense over time.
Its weird how some corals do that....probably due to lighting change or just being in a differnt tank......who knows really

Why don’t you test your manganese level and then determine it may make sense to dose?

I dose manganese on my 60gallon.
My gonio palys and zoas all can do a little extra. Rightnow I dose 2 drops a day. That is about 0.1ml or 0.03ppb. Last week my lab test came back and manganese level was good.

This is definitely the pragmatic approach and the only way to tell my manganese concentration. I just wanted to see what's the general consensus of dosing additional manganese when dosing All for Reef and if there are reefers like me with the same problem.
