Advice with Carpet anemone

90 gallon mixed reef
My newly purchased carpet has been making its way behind the rocks. I put it in this corner hoping it’d stay in this general area but over the past week it’s been inching behind the rocks to where I have no way of feeding it or seeing it. I understand they go where they please but it’s getting to the point where I feel like I should do something. Last time I had a BTA go under rocks it came out very pale and malnourished

Any opinions ? Leave it be or try to pry it back out?

leave it ..you dont place them like corals , they place themselves.

fighting a losing battle trying to move it where u want. also never handle without some gloves or try to force them out of rocks

Just checking because I seen the flame Angel but you are aware they can be fish killers right? I had a green one in a 180g and lost several fish from stings and it ate my little Picasso trigger and spit out the skeleton.

My blue one stayed front and center for months.

Then one day it moved to a back corner.

Yes about fish killer but I have a few questions for you. The first time I got one it suicided into the power head after a power outage and the flow stopped after about a month of having. So never truly got a chance to get an idea of how they behave. Took me over a year to find this one the current one I have now as a replacement.

How many fish did you lose and sizes too? In my tank I have
Purple tang
Snowflake eel
Flame angel
Coral beauty
Black clownfish
Pajama cardinal
Leapord wrasse (though I haven’t seen for a couple weeks since adding)
Royal gramma

Do you really think the dwarf angels are at risk? I figured they would be strong enough to break free from the carpets grip. Or is it once the fish makes any sort of contact it’s “paralyzed” and can’t get away? Just curious how that all works. The only fish I figured would maybe get eaten is the royal gramma.

Also how did you find the blue? Absolutely ridiculous what people want for them when they do pop up which is rarely. I look almost every day for them on various retailers and can’t ever find one. I’m so jealous. Has it ever split? So fricken cool

i wouldnt worry yet, that isnt new for them. some take a while before coming out and getting used to the day/night schedule.

put on a plastic glove and give a tentacle a touch. they lose tentacles before they let go ime. they are stronger than u think but most fish u have there are pretty strong swimmers and dont perch. I kept mine in a separate tank as i never wanted to deal with the fish loses. cardinalfish, gramma, and maybe the leopard wrasse (if it gets too inquisitive) are the three i would be afraid of losing to them

ive heard of people that have lost smaller tangs to them as well though so they are always a gamble

It may be fine in your tank. IME any fish is at risk but stinging is as much a threat as being eaten. If you haven't yet, reach in bare handed and touch it to see how sticky it is then imagine if you swam into one how hard it would be to escape. I lost a 4-5 inch foxface and a powder blue about the same size. Something must have startled them overnight and they swam into it but did get out. They were both covered with injuries from the stings and died. I saw the nem spit the little Picasso skeleton out.
I'm not trying to scare you off I've just seen first hand what can happen and wasn't sure if you were aware so thought I would mention it.
I walked into a LFS and saw the blue one. I wanted a red one too but couldn't pry my wallet open far enough lol. I lost the blue one a while back. I had to move tanks and it ended up wrapping itself around a heater.
