Hello all, just looking for a little advice. I am new to SPS coral and not really sure what I should be looking for as far as polyp extension. Being used to LPS and softies I am afraid what I am seeing is that the polyps of the SPS I have are not extended. I am trying to do a balancing act with the Torches, Octospawn and Hammers in the tank. I have placed the SPS higher in the tank but am still not sure if light is an issue. My parameters are as follows 1.025 Salinity, 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, 5ppm Nitrate, 0.09 Phosphate, Temp 78, 445 Calcium, 1350 Magnesium. I dose with All for Reef. Please give any and all advice. Please see attached pictures

What do you mean Balancing Act? Do you mean flow? Or lighting?

I and many mix lps and sps with no issues so please clarify.

I am sorry I wasn’t more specific. The balancing act I am talking about is really both flow and lighting. I have got the flow where I thing it should be acceptable to the spa without tearing up the torches and octospawn. The lighting however I am not sure about. That is really why I wanted some advice from people who have SPS to see if mine look satisfied, happy or at worse I am killing them. I added pictures in the previous comments but will add them again here in case they didn’t come through

What is the alkalinity? Alk is by far the most important parameter for sps corals, alk should be maintained at a constant level, bouncing alk can kill sps quickly.

Your corals look fine to me, congrats!

Considering you know its high compared to others, so for example if it came from a tank with 8 or 8.5 alk, that is a big bump so will take more time to acclimate to your tank. Its good your parameters are stable, but the more different they are than where the coral came from will determine how long it needs to acclimate to a new tank. I think just keep on going with what your doing. Good luck
