AF Filter Floss

I’m switching from bags to floss. …tired of washing them. Got new 7” cups and AF floss. It’s in a sheet. Never used floss before. How much should I fill in the cup? I have two cups. I’ve only ever used bags so this will be interesting. Thanks.

generally you want to fill the cup nearly to the top, but without packing the floss super tight. toss and replace floss as needed. also check out this product for future reference, probably the best bang for your buck filter floss, just cut to size: https://amzn.to/44ewpco

I’m really looking forward to no more sock. And I didn’t want yet the addition of a roller.

I use floss but not in the cups. I set it horizontally across my 3 cups (there is a glass strip). It’s a lot more efficient this way. At first I did it in a cup but you waste a lot of floss this way as water only flows through part of it.

My Fiji 36 sump has like a 4”x15” rectangle where it has a 3 sock plate and it also comes with a grated insert box to just use floss or whatever media instead of the sock holders.

With all that said I cut 2 4”x15” sheets of the AF floss and run 2 layers in the grated box. I find it’s not very thick floss but it’s pretty fine

Interesting way. I have two cups. I think I could do the same and lay it across the top. Ty.
