I use the InTank media baskets on my Fluval Flex 32.5 gallon tank. They are sized for 70x85 mm filter floss pads.

I've been ordering bulk sheets of filter floss pads from InTank and cutting them with scissors to the desired size. But it's kind of a pain to cut straight and sometimes the filter floss gets jammed in the scissors.

Thanks to some advice from PinkyFilter.com site, I found a much better way to cut the mat. There exists what is known as a "rotary cutter" for crafting, which is basically like a pizza cutter. Paired up with a seal-healing cutting mat and a straight edge, it makes cutting the filter floss mat really easy. Compared to scissors, it's amazing how easily it cuts through the filter floss.

I just wanted to share the tip because it has made a little bit of my tank maintenance much simpler. Again, it's not my idea, but rather thanks to a page on PinkFilter!

You can find these on Amazon or probably at craft stores.

Where the hell was this when I spent years trying to cut 150x150mm squares of wadding for my filter! I eventually gave up and now purchase individual pads (of which I have about a 1000) this would’ve made it a breeze

Thanks. I am going to try this. I was using a cutting board , metal straight edge and a pairing knife. This looks like a better solution and I won’t be using kitchen utensils. LOL.

Fabric cutters are the best for this. I’ve seen the ones used by people in the sewing hobby that have like predefined shapes and you just it the fabric in and turn a handle and perfect cuts. I should look back into that.

I hate socks. I switched to media towers with filter floss but do get upset when I cut wrong when I get lazy
