Hey all,
I'm thinking of making my reef tank into an agressive or semi/agressive tank but safe for corals...
Any ideas on fish?
I like the dwarf lions if I can get 1 already on pre packaged food.
Let me know what you think?

Coral are usually safe. It's the clean up crew that is usually the concern. That in turn makes nutrient and algae management tough.

Your gonna be kind of limited in a 54. I would think dottyback, sixline, valentini, dwarf lion, hawk fish? The biggest threat to coral in a 54 aggressive tank is gonna be phosphate.

Dwarf lions and lions perch on corals… Nala my fuzzy irritated all the corals when I had them. I lost most of them and now just have FOWLR. Any of the predators are going to have higher bioload so if you have corals more work keeping the water good for corals. Especially eels, but I wouldnt put one in a corner tank like that!

U all aer great. I really hadn't thought of phosphate issue.. and figured I could possibly get away with snails. I also had no idea the lions would perch on my corals... I may not go that route.. how about dwarf angels? Flame? Bicolor? And regular angels? As long as they are smaller when I would start. I'd think they would be good for a pretty long while. And depending on how they fare.. I may decide to move them to my 220g. Otherwise I'd need to remove them I'm sure. I've been in the hobby a long while but never explored angels.

If the odds were good at keeping pygmies and dwarves every other tank if not more would house them. Furthermore it has nothing to do with how much you feed them as its in their DNA. It's just another one of those things in the hobby. You might get lucky but chances are you wont.
