Hello all,

I'm new to this forum and reefing for that matter! So i just set up a 34 gallon RSM (yesterday) and i bought myself an Ai Prime. Unfortunately the room that my tank is in doesn't have a WiFi connection that the prime can pick up. So i have it set up as "Stand Alone" for now. Meaning i just connect my phone to the Ai Prime network and turn it on and off through the app (Not connected to the internet). I have been looking around to see if i can find any info on this but there doesn't seem to be much. I want to know if i can still program a timer and lighting schedule without using WiFi. If anyone here has any experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated if you gave your .02. Thank you in advance!!

If you're able to connect directly to the WiFi network broadcast by the light, you're all set to create a lighting schedule or load one that's already developed.

I've found it a little easier to use a laptop - instead of my phone - to create a lighting schedule, but either will work. From a laptop, connect to the AI WiFi network the same way you do from the app. You should see similar controls, whether in the app or a browser, to create a schedule.

Regardless of device, the general process is the same:
1) select a time,
2) add a point - click the "+"
3) choose the settings for each spectrum/color

Repeat steps 1-3 for as many color/intensity changes you'd like through the day.

I've found looking at a starter program is helpful. A very popular one that many people have modified is the Saxby profile - a quick google search will get you the link. I have found that loading a lighting schedule through the browser is a bit easier than the app, but both accomplish the same result.

Note that if you use someone else's program, you'll want to ensure the intensities are adjusted for your tank - namely the depth of your tank and height of your lights above the water line. If you have access to a PAR meter, it's extremely helpful to ensure your corals would be receiving the proper amount of light.

So it is my understanding that the light does not need to be connected to wifi in order to run the schedule. That's a relief, i spent about three hours last night trying to figure out how to do it . Thanks a million!

I'm 99% positive the light doesn't have to be connected to WiFi to run the schedule - you just need to connect to the light, create the schedule, and then it should run.......the aquatic equivalent of "set it and forget it" :)
