Hello, please see attached pictures, I've been dealing with this really bad algae out break for about 2 months now. My tank is only 9 months old, started with 80% dry caribsea rock, but I'm getting pretty tired "just waiting out the ugly phase". I was fine playing the wait game until this algae bottomed out NO4 and PO3 and has started to STN some of my acro's. Now it needs to be dealt with. I've been doing manual removal as much as I can but it keeps coming back. It's a 120g, I have a purple tang, gem tang and white tail bristle tooth tang, non of them will eat it. And I have 2 big urchins who I think eat it, but if they are, they definitely can't keep up. I just added 4 very small pin cushion urchins. I figured between tangs and urchins I wouldn't need a snail army, but if that's what I need then I'll buy em. Just want to confirm if snails will eat this. Or should I treat chemically?

To me it looks like a really thin Chaeto type algae. The next closest thing is green turf algae (comparing to pictures online). But it grows thick and pulls off in clumps. Not hairy or soft at all. It's kind of hard to see in the tank picture, but it's completely covering the branch rock in spots.

Looks like what's in my tank- could be hair or turf algae. Helps to see it under light and flow to really say for sure. Persistent manual removal is needed. Its a PIA.

Pretty confident it's not hair algae, I have small bits of hair algae in other places in the tank and the tangs keep it mowed down. There is no movement in water flow, it's very thick and firm.
