I am getting terribly frustrated with my frag tank. Within two weeks of setting it up every time, I start getting what looks like hair algae growing all over. Here are the tank specs:

24x24x12 Acrylic Eurobraced Tank
1 - MH Pendant
1 - Koralia 2 powerhead
AquaC Remora HOB Skimmer
TLF Phosban Reactor

I added the reactor this round thinking it may be a phosphate issue, but it doesnt seem to have worked. I used 10 gallons from my 75 gal, and 20 fresh, and I have few pieces of LR in the sump.

Any suggestions on what could be causing this? I haven't tested the water, but I can't imagine things would be off in two weeks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sell it to me cheap. Haha

That is weird because I know your display is super clean. I would just let it go and keep up with water changes. It will eventually die off with both a skimmer and reactor running.

black it out for a couple weeks and do heavy water changes, run phosphate. add a herbivore like a kole tang, that is a must!

is there eggcrate in the frag tank? it might have nothing to do with the eggcrate but i usually "cycled" it before adding it to my system because eggcrate could possibly release phosphates.

There is black egg crate in the system, and I have considered that as a possibility, but I still think the Phosban would take care of it. I will check my phosphates tonight and see where they are.

Jared
what phosban are you running?

I am just running the Phosban from TLF through a reactor. It's the same setup that I have on my 75 gal, and I have had zero phosphates in that for over a year. That's why I am a bit perplexed...
