I set up my refugium in my sump, and the algae is growing like crazy. How can I be sure the copods are growing? And how do I know when to thin out the Algae?

You should see various pods/critters crawling on the glass, algae, etc. I generally pull out about 1/3rd of my algae every week or two. Just make sure to leave room for your algae to grow.

Freeze it before you throw it away in the trash, so it is dead and unlikely to find its way into local waters.
