Another DiY here!
I have been on a DiY spree so I took a whack at building a scrubber. My nitrates hover around 40-50 and my display rock is covered in gha so here goes nothing.
The dimensions are 19x6x12
I used 2 50w CoB LEDs made of 100% Chinesium,

eBay special 2 for $50.

The glass I cut from an old 10 gallon that had a crack on one pane. I forgot to snap a picture of the tank before I broke it down but I got some of him in here for next time

I’m using 3/4 pvc around the screen and 1/2 RO tubing for the ins n outs.

Only time will tell if the unit performs but wish me luck and I will keep you updated.

That's some nice glass work. Are you going to run that externally?
Thank you reefer, takes practice but not much.

. I do plan to run it external. I will hook it up to my manifold for water supply. Then I’ll hang the return lines over the sump and let gravity do it’s thing

I’ll be curious if it will drain quickly enough. These drain via gravity so the water pumps in fairly fast through a small diameter pipe then need a much larger pipe to drain without over filling. You don’t want to cut the flow down to much as it would reduce effectiveness.

Good call. I went to test it out just now. I used a MJ1200. The drain kept up but I need more flow to really test it out. It’s making a gurgling sound.raising the water level inside might help that. Also the screen needs more water coverage. That may be from the cut or lack of flow.

Yup I need the return drain bigger then 1/2inch. Sucks because I like the RO loK lines but when I increased the flow, I got the screen coverage I needed but the drain could not keep up. Dead silent at full syphon thank goodness.

You may have to put a drain in the bottom. There will be some noise once it’s set up and running.

Here’s mine

Looks good.

Can you provide a link for the lights? What colour spectrum are they?

I managed to cut a bigger hole over the previous one for the bigger drain upgrade. Now Im just waiting to get the rest of the tank set up. Then I can trst this on the new manifold

I used those same leds they worked great I wanted a lower profile so made my own lights using the led boards

Oh cool I’m glad to know they perform. I just took a shot in the dark with these honestly because I know little about diy LEDs.
