Algae?

is this red stuff algae? It's spreading slowly over the sand in the tank.

Also why would the green hair algae only be growing on the snails?

red stuff is cyano bacteria

hair algae can grow on snail shells .Its a hard surface

Siphon out the Cyano and increase flow.

and snails have a hard time cleaning their own shells;). clearly they're doing a good job on the rest of the tank.
