AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

What headache and less light? Lights amazing and massive par
cool. Glad you like it. Hope it keeps working. The headaches would be all of the fixes needed here from replacing boards to thermal paste to all kinds of weird fixes and issues, and complete banks of less dropping. But im glad yours work and are growing your corals. If I were trying to farm on a low budget ID maybe try something like this. You all are more brave than me with something this delicate.
Lets see your tank! Id love to see these in action. All I can find here are pictures of the units taken apart to fix or junk.

Yes the sample size you are seeing is skewed. There are some people here having problems. Particularly people that opened them up and tinkered around. Many people are not having issues. To me this product is like a young Jebao. More issues in the beginning that get ironed out and now their pumps are mostly great. This is the first version of this product and is bound to have more issues.

V 2.3.8 for Android

I have the same thing and actually now I've been playing with the app my lights are playing up. One seems to have set to correct program but blue light on top constantly flashing. Other light now not setting to any program I try to do and blue light on top flashing. Really wish they'd work on making a better app as it's all over the shop.

I was able to find the QR code for 2.3.8 from a member earlier in this thread.

I spent about 2k on 5x hydra 32s lights for my main display and i have had to replace lenses on all of them in less than 6 months. I spent 400 bucks on two of these china specials and have had zero issues with them growing all types of coral in my frag tank. I have them mounted like 20 inches over the surface at like 50% and im getting like 125-140 par in a 12" deep frag tank.

Who knows the long term but coming in at a fraction of the cost even if they lasted half as long as something more expensive you still win. We used to grow coral with T5s that were 2 years past when they should have been replaced i really think the LED light game has become so expensive and snotty for what you actually need to grow coral.

I did not do anything to mine other than plug them in how they came from factory.

I use the A8's (cree led/meanweld) since December/ 7 /2023.
Working good. No more problem than xr/mobius.
See tank in my tank thread.
400$ vs 1200$...
@Featherweight
exactly!! the idea that all these other " top " light companies sell products that come with zero issues is comical

Does someone open lamp after some time working above tank?
I have mine about 2 months i was replacing one a8se to a8se II max, I noticed some white coating after i opend lamp which was working 2 months. After this i also opend second lamp whitch is working a little bit shorter and there is also this white coating. Both are 100% working without any problem. But maybe someone knows what's going on there?

It looks like dust that has adhered to fingerprints. Do you use an ultrasonic humidifier, or have you done any sanding or other dusty work?

Or maybe they just shipped that way?

Yes it looks like dust. But dust should be washable. This coating is not washable :P

I have two lights that I just setup and both are working fine, but the buttons are blinking. Is that normal? I have three total and one is not blinking. Is that because they are linked to that main light?

looks like my A8se II Blue will be here tomorrow wit the meanwell driver. Paid the extra $30 upgrade charge for the better driver
Nice. Would you mind posting your experience here of getting it set up? And a pic of how the spectrum looks. I have one on the way as well.
