Can your A8 SE II MAX lights be controlled only via the cloud when connected to wifi network ? If you turn off internet access but are still in the local wifi network, and ping the ip address of the light, can you control the lights? Do your lights run the app program after a power outage if they don't connect to wifi ? (power off your wifi hotspot, power off your lamp and power on lamp without powering wifi hotspot )

its a very subtle flash as it ramps up and down through the program

Not at all. It’s just the way the light is programmed it does it. Paste would have nothing to do with that

I checked the app and the lights were offline. I powered one unit off and one, and the light came back online. Anyone experienced something similar? Also, I noticed some discussion regarding controlling the lights locally without internet. How would I do that?

Isn’t there something called AP, as in “access point”? Not sure how it works or how you connect to it. I’ve noticed this on the Chinese Jebao/Jecod WiFi products.

do you have them on your main wifi or a dedicated wifi?
I am thinking these act alot like the Hydros controller. If they are not on a dedicated wifi they disconnect alot. I have mine on the dedicated wifi i have setup for my Hydros and only the Hydros and this light is on it and it has never dropped wifi

Hello, I have them on my standard home wifi. These were the only devices to drop last night, and I have a lot of devices :) If it occurs again, I'll try your idea. Thanks. It would be cool if we could control the lights locally, rather than through the internet.

yea would be nice if they had wifi and bluetooth

The Hydros acts the same if its on the main wifi with all other devices. Other things dont drop but the wifi stuff on the hydros would disconnect alot. After i got a cheap $20 router that was dedicated to the hydros it never dropped again and my light has been rock solid for the past month i have had it

Just figured this out - worked like a charm! Surprised I didn't come across this fix anywhere.

You do indeed need to save device. So the steps for anyone else struggling with this are:

1. Go to the "MY" menu and adjust the master time zone (PST is UTC-7, for example).
2. Go to the individual light, confirm the time zone sync, let it sync, then click "save device"

It seems you must repeat steps 2 for each individual light, even if they are linked.

Not sure if only ones some probably don’t notice it.

Mine flashes too. I have a more blue ramp up/down and the flash is more white, every 30 seconds or so. Like the PWM signal is a little messy and sending the incorrect signals for a split second at every adjustment

Do changes in light settings gradually change from one hour to another, or do they stay the same until the next hours starts? Make sense? For example, at 9am I have blue at 50% and 10am I have it at 100%. Does the light gradually increase the light over the hour, or just change it at 10am?

It gradually changes. Auto-calculates the ramp up/down between the values assigned to each hour.

unfortunately you cannot delete any times so you have to setup every hours you want the the light running

Quick question .. the A8se... what is the spread... 90 degrees or wider...
I see everyone says get the blue.. but I was never one to like that heavy blue.
better off with max or still blue and turn down.. thanks

On side note..
I had to send back the A8 pro max Blue.. the 125 degree spread was too much for my set up.. whole room was sky blue...

I am pretty sure the A8SE is 115degrees.

I have the A8se II max, so the "white" version, its somewhere around 120 degrees. But you can switch out the lens with the high intensity one from the XR30, which makes it around 90 degrees. That's what I did, and now I have 300 par on top of my reef while only running 20% power (4 blue channels 100%, 4 other channels like whites 80%). First I needed 40% for that, but bottom corner is now 80par instead of 150.

KoenE... thank you for that info... My tank is in the wall so mounting ugly style is not an issue..
can you send me a link where you got yours.. did you get the meanwell driver and did the seller provide the xr30 lens? or just get from BRS the xr30 upgrade kit for 25 bucks...
