AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

You have to set the time zone in your account. Go to the middle icon at the bottom called "My," and set your time zone there. Then it should update to the proper time when linking. You may need to tap "Save device" as well to actually save the time after updating.
Just figured this out - worked like a charm! Surprised I didn't come across this fix anywhere.

You do indeed need to save device. So the steps for anyone else struggling with this are:

1. Go to the "MY" menu and adjust the master time zone (PST is UTC-7, for example).
2. Go to the individual light, confirm the time zone sync, let it sync, then click "save device"

It seems you must repeat steps 2 for each individual light, even if they are linked.

Mine auto set time when I first logged in and setup it was just fine. It seems when we changed to daylight savings it wont adjust to that and keeps old time. Not that big of a deal as you can press one button to move the schedule to compensate.

Mine work just fine with DST now - you just need to set the master time zone in the MY account page first.

For the record:
It may be a coincidence,
but since the change to winter hours, the app asks me if I want to set the light to my phone hour. (1hrs difference).
even if I say yes, it doesn't work.

On the other hand, since my temperature test last day in "manual mode" my hours is perfect.

It may be possible that changing the time and "saving settings in manual mode"(instead of "auto mode" solves my problem lol "maybe"!

Yea mine is set correct it just doesn’t wanna save DST
The time zone setting in the app uses UTC, which does not recognize DST. So you have to manually change your time zone by one hour in the spring and fall if you're in an area that recognizes DST. I just changed mine from UTC-6 to UTC-5.

You have to change the time zone in the "My" section at the bottom of the app. UTC time does not compensate for DST, so you have to manually change the time zone when DST occurs.

I just moved my schedule by 1hr. I think that was easier than to mess with the time setting. Its just the one button to move it to the right 1hr

Received 2 A8 Prox Max lights. First one works great. Second one has a lot of fan noise. I think the fan is rubbing against the grill or something inside. Tried to remove the 4 surrounding screws but I think they are glued in. Any ideas or pictures?

you removed the hanging screws and then tried to remove the screws down inside that on the top plate?
That is really the only way i believe to get to the fan since its the same design as the radion

Hello. Yes, I haven't installed the hanging screws yet. Tried to remove the screws under them. I honestly think they are glued in. I did fix the problem by taking a paperclip and pulling the fan screen up on one end. Think the fan was rubbing on it. Anyway, no noise currently!

I'm curious if anyone has a disassembly video for the A8 Pro. Do I need to add thermal paste. Is that necessary? These lights are bright!

I pasted mine as soon as i got it. Its like a CPU. I have been building PC's for like 25years and the LED panel needs paste just like a CPU to transfer the heat to the heatsink. Air does not transfer the heat properly and the paste makes a thermal connection between the panel and heatsink that fills imperfections and transfers as best as it can.
One thing. some people had issue with the light after as they somehow damaged the main board during the install of the paste probably the connector is very delicate and they had to order a new one for $40

When I did mine I did not unplug the light from the mainboard. I just unscrewed them and lifted it all carefully and took my tube of paste and put about 10 pea size dabs all along the heatsink and then put it back together. I didnt have to worry about damaging the main connecter between the panel and board. There is no need to butter the panel like toast in the video. Just some pea size drops and when you screw it down it will spread plenty to pull enough heat transfer
