Good but bad... Have any brownouts lately?

And to the others.. Thanks for posting btw..

No brownouts or power loss issues of any kind. I do run the sps template 100% on these which draws 170w. Not sure if that matters.
Shouldn't.... Any chance you tried Meanwell for a replacement. Believe the factory warranty is 2 years.
3 for some .
If its handy what is the Meanwell model #?
Never mind I see it's posted prior ELG 240-36
ect..

I have a faulty one that I’m still running (doesn’t fire all the blues), and the one that listed a few posts back which is completely gone. It fires the lights like 10% max.
I guess I’ll wait to see if any others crap our before contacting mean well. They’re only a few months old so still in warranty period I guess.

That's probably not the power supply but the led/drivers.
There is a reported blue channel factory defect where the leds are not properly soldered to the board..

The Mean Well will output 240w DC when powered on 220v AC(as in the U.K). It will only output 180w when using 110v as in the U.S.
That's what the specs show. 180W when plugged to 120V

I recently bought two A8 SE II blue, I was initially able to connect both of them to the 2.4GHz network, however today when I mounted them on the tank, one of them has a red dot, I tried power cycling with no luck. I removed it from the app and tried to factory reset it by holding the power button for 15sec, but nothing happens and I don't see the light on the wifi network. Has anyone else faced this issue?

the red dot for me means nothing. Its always next to mine but when I click the light it always connects. also on mine it says all and light. its always a red dot when its on All. When i click light it turns green. But like I said its always red when i launch the app and just click my light and it connects to it in about 5sec. Never had a time where it wouldnt connect in the past 2months of having it. I also have the A8SE II blue

Thanks for your feedback, I can talk to one of the lights without any issue, but the second one does not connect when I select it, I just stays off, even after power cycling it lights up and then turns off, I removed it from the app and now I am unable to connect to it, I tried pushing the center button for 15 secs to reset it but no luck, I don't see if on the wifi network at all so I can't reconnect to it.

hmm, I only have 1 light so i am not sure about having multiple. I am probably going to order a 2nd soon for my tank upgrade. I guess I will see what happens.
One question on your 2.4ghz is that your main wifi with all your other devices?
do you have a spare router to try and setup its own wifi. I have a cheap $20 unit i use to make a dedicated network for my Hydros cause that will drop connections left and right if its on the main system thats shared with everything. I have my light on there so its only Hydros and the light and its been rock solid. I am not saying this is required but I feel like it might be why mine has been as solid as it has. Also the router is 2feet from it since its only setup for my tank to use

I have an option for a separate SSID for IOT devices, it runs using 2.4GHz, in the past I have turned off 5GHz network and connect these type of devices and then turned the 5GHz back on. I hope this helps.

oh

yea, If you have smart connections on where it tries to choose the correct band. That always will cause an issue. I still had issues with my Hydros and I always run dual band separate 2.4 and 5ghz networks.

I use my A8SE II on a dual band router with separate 2.4 and 5g SSIDs, both of which have many connected devices. I'm not convinced that the dual bands are the problem. My guess is that there is a setting in some routers that causes the light to be disconnected occasionally, and switching routers is just a way of changing the default setting without knowing what it is. It's still possible the router is an issue, but it would not be my first guess, especially when your other light is operating correctly.

When you hold the center button on the light, does it eventually power up, going through each color channel sequentially? I would try it a few times. If nothing happens, try swapping power supplies with your other light.
