Wondering if anyone has gave this PAR meter a go? Could be I testing to compare it against an apogee.

I know it's easy to rule these things out as junk on AE but it's not always the case. In the headphone hobby people buy AliExpress clone couplers for measuring headphones for about £100. The real deal costs thousands and the clones match up pretty well

Looks at my apogee... I feelz bad now considering i think ive loaned it to my friends more then i actually used it.

But i did hear you need the expensive one for LED's in particular.
Which is why they tell you get the expensive apogee for a more accurate PAR.

Yeah I rented mine back when BRS would do that and have not toched the settings since. I am starting a new tank in a few nonths and would loved it if BRS did the rental thing again.

lol well if you were in LA i would probably loan it out to you, with a paypal holding deposit.

However i wont mail it... USPS lost it one time and took 2 months to find it.
Also the package is odd size because of the stick, so i can't flat rate the sucker.

My friend who desperately wanted to use it, actually drove from LV, borrowed it, and dropped it back off in 1 weekend.

I called him insane on a 700 mile commute like that.
But his reason is it would cost the same in gas, to borrow it for BRS or Saltwateraquarium, and he wanted an excuse with his wifey to come to LA for all your can eat Korean BBQ.

I believe it was @telegraham that said he uses this one more than the apogee.

Yep. This one works very well. If you order it, @MrkRd84, please post a pic of the sensor and tag me. Their newer sensors require a multiplier to align their readings with a 500-series Apogee, but the VBR is great.

Order this one Amazon product ASIN B0C7GRLQC4 correct?
So this measures close to the Apogee with a multiplier?

Yeah as I am doing more testing I am just gonna buy a par meter now even though it's nice to see they still rent them.

I'm about to post my SQ-520 with wand. If you are interested PM me.

I too have this par meter and seemed to work fine (mine is the one you multiply by 1.17).
I got lucky and found it used on FB marketplace for $100 so deff was worth the money.

question though is are we testing PAR with flow ON or OFF?
I seen people do it with flow off and others say flow on .
