So I am currently dosing for about 6 months 8ml a day but now the dkh has been rising. I gave some hard coral away and now In 21 days in went up by 1dkh that's . 048 dkh a day so if I were to dose just 5 ml a day instead. Do you think it would stop going up?

theoretically yes. But also when our tanks aren’t happy the alk
Consumption slows down. My AFR dose changes by the day some days I dose 20ml and some days I dose 40ml

You can use the calculator on their website. If you put in you total volume, it give you a starting dose. That starting dose will say how much dKH and Ca it contains. You can then do some math to figure out how much you need to reduce or increase your dose based on consumption.

Right now I’m dosing 6ml a day into my nano with 8 gallons water volume. I did what I mentioned above to figure it out.

Did the math and I'm using should be putting 7 ml a day. I've been putting 8 a day to keep up with a drop of . 39 kh a day. So I'mGonna put 6 ml because I slowly want to drop. Then when I'm back where I am I'll increase 1 ml. Thank you! Without that calculator I would not have be able to figure this out.

Always dose AFR based on the alk, IMO. If alk is rising, add less, if it is falling, add more each day.

Using a calculator isn’t always a good way to adjust for a few reasons such as alk demand actually changing as the alk changes, but your approach seems appropriate to me. :)

I do it based on alk like you said. so I noticed it was rising. I just wanted to get a ballpark of how much less I should put to make it stop rising. I don't usually use calculators. But I will reduce to 6 ml a day then test in a week see what that does.and I will see if I need to lower or raise dose or keep it the same.i tested calcium it was 480 I know it's a bit high but I've ran 500 before with no problems. I don't want to stop dosing completely but I do want to use the reduced dose to get it to go down very slowly for a while. Everything is very happy though

I've read other posts here about even 550ppm not a problem as long as there's no precipitation.

I agree. I was dosing to calcium levels at first because it was suggested by Tropic Marin. I took your advice and dosed by dkh which took a little while to dial in but is now keeping my calcium levels correct. Sometimes I have to increase dosage as my tank needs rise.
