I have tried similar methods to slowdown fast growing coral, lol

I completely regret the placement of that monti. It's going to take over the entire top rock that I want to put acros on.

In a full contact battle, the acropora will win against every montipora I've owned. It ain't pretty, but it is true.

That has not been my experience, the circled bit used to be a pc rainbow frag. Wish I had taken a pic a few weeks ago when the top was still pc rainbow. Looked pretty cool with the top half pc rainbow and bottom half rainbow monti

Does being mostly green change the price ?

are they similar to most other acros ?

Suggested par ?

anyone keep them under t5’s ?
yes, the green ones are 350-500? and the two color are more like 1000-1300, i'm ball parking cause i haven't priced them for a little while.

not sure of a suggested par, some blast them and some probably don't, i have frags in different PARs

I keep mine under LEDs

That is my hope. But I think to withstand the onslaught, it will need to be a bit larger than a frag. But my plan is to slowly take back the rock.

No sir. If you look back at page 1, you will see my colony pic right after I lopped the original frag off of it. The original frag was probably 3/4” - 1” tall and it had a small slice of red about 1/8” x 1/8” on the tip down.

The colony has shot multiple branches and they are all green...
That’s why reading is fundamental! I figure it was something like that, but now I understand the thread. We are all in this together
Dont mind my frag tile wall, I'm trying to slow down this dang monti.
But get some epoxy. I had something like this but with acros just encrusting rather than growing upward. I tried to epoxy them since they were starting to fight.

Yea greens are much cheaper. Very similar to a green sunset or acid trip milli. No idea on the par. Mine is growing with T5 and Radions

How's everyone looking? My piece is encrusting nicely, and showing signs of new growth from the branch, but no red, as of yet. Definitely turning gold/yellow, with vivid fluorescent green on the encrusting base.

I had a 4 day power outage a couple weekends ago, kept the tanks going with a somewhat undersized generator so conditions weren't idea, but my green splices survived it. i think growth has stalled out though, or was hopefully things are moving in the right direction again as i'm having to turn up my doser every other day after having to turn it way down after the outage.

I’ve got a couple interesting things to share....

First, below is the Frankenstein frag I cut off the colony because it was the only red I had. Well this frag is showing how drastically different the green growth rate is compared to the red. Looks like I’m going to need to scrape away some more green that’s encroaching on the red....

I had the camera out today and decided to get a colony shot, showing the 2 new branches that happen to be perfectly situated (where I made the cut) to have red showing up on both new branches! And then when I was editing the photo I noticed the branch to the left of the new branches that is showing some red streaks out of nowhere! I hope this continues to happen on more branches!

Here is what mine looked like when I first got it at the end of Feb 21. It had a small amount of red but was mainly green.

Here it is now, still mostly green/yellow but lots of red areas and it seems to be getting more each month.

You can see the colors starting to change

I took a shot of the Frankenfrag the other day. For some reason the red has exploded with growth.... Maybe scraping the green away gave the red more room? All I know is the frag is looking fantastic now! Check out the red striations coming out of the new branch area. I’m gonna need to upgrade the plug soon.

That’s a pretty impressive growth for one month for a small frag. Congratulations.
