Alternative to Plastic Mesh Screen stop?

Hi guys. I’m getting my tank setup soon and wondering what to do about keeping jumpers inside the tank. I watched the @BRS video that in summary said that the plastic mesh material blocks about 20% of PAR. I know my light is already under powered for SPS so I’d like to avoid any reduction in PAR if possible. I was thinking about building my DIY screen frame with plastic mesh top and then cutting an oval shaped hole in the center to allow more light above the aquascape while having a buffer around the edges for jumpers. What do you think?

How would the mesh be supported around the cut out oval? Once you cut out the oval, the remaining mesh would droop.

I thought BRS tested it, and saw only a 1-2% PAR loss.

BRS video says about 2-6% depending on depth and light source type. Not sure where the 20% came from.

Screen top is important. After I had a clown jump and land in my external overlow box, I rigged up eggcrate. Then I made a 1/8" screen top with acrylic.

It was only 2-6% huh I must’ve been thinking of something else
