So when I upgraded I did not take the time to put baffles in my sump. It was fine till I got my new Skimmer. Well now my sump is full of microbubbles. Now I have to go get another tank for the sump and put baffles in it. It is not gonna cost alot seeing as my sump is only a ten gallon but it is a pain. So take my advice add baffles before you set up the sump......

You can try building a bubble trap like I have in the pic below. For me though, it was my overflow that I was trying remove bubbles from, so that was what went into my bubble trap. For you, you would just plumb your skimmer's output into the bubble trap.

Here's a diagram of how I did it:

Works pretty well. Might be easier than having to build a new sump. :)

Micro bubbles will then be sucked into the return pump and into the tank where it will detract from the look of the tank. It is really an aesthetic issue more than anything. If it is severe enough it can look like a snow storm in the tank.

Even more of a reason to have baffles is that skimmer will never skim a drop or more with out having a nice constant water level which you can never achieve in a sump with no baffles..;)
