I have seen a few wild Gigs that had the same pattern as mine with the multi colors/orange band of tents, and one true solid orange/red Gigantea. I've never seen any of these come into the trade, though. I'm sure they have somewhere, at some point. I'm also not sure how much lighting comes into play as I watched this one drastically change from the time I got it and I've watched it lose color under a different light source and less intense lighting.

Oh wow, post some pics of colorful wild gigs. Where were you for that dive? Very cool!

I didn’t have a camera with me on those occasions, but here’s a wild multi color Gig and what looks like an orange Gigantea off the web. All the wild Gigs I’ve seen have been while snorkeling in Indonesia. There’s definitely some interesting ones out there

I don’t think I noticed this coloration prior to me treating it with Cipro. After treatment in recovery, I looked in the basket and was like... hmmmm.

Stress can exaggerate certain color, or just optimal care will bring out the beat color.
this is not a Gigantea nut due to space issue I have to move this Haddoni, result in changing from red to rainbow colors

I actually have a purple one right now that has a pattern of white striping. Currently coloring up. I’ll post a pic in the coming months!

The gig has packed on some serious size in the last month. I’d say it’s close to 10” across now

Gig update

Growing bigger and bigger every month. Colors are on point again and it’s looking awesome. Also picked up a blue gig recently from Blue Kai Aquatics that has been settling in.

This was not on purpose. The blue gig went for a stroll around the tank and at some point managed to find the other gig and sink it’s foot into the same crevice in the rock. Now it has to fight the multicolor for space

The owner of Galactic Coral, David R. told me that most of the Gigantea are export out of VietNam and Indonesia. Because of Covid-19, these place is at a stand still right now sh he was not able to get any Gigantea for a long time now. Hope this will change in the future sometime.
