Newbie here: by way of intro, I have an 8 month old reef tank, 300 gal, which has gone through various phases and is now supporting soft and a few hardier LPS corals without any apparent issue (fingers crossed). However, of the four anemones introduced into my tank in the past 6 weeks, all have died (or in one case was rescued before death). The longest any has survived is about a month. I should mention that my dealer quarantines everything for a month or more so it is unlikely that they arrive ill.

They start off doing fine, open and waving, and then sometimes after a week, sometimes longer, they change place and go for more shelter initially, then after a few more days, they start to shrink, and then they have been disappearing. The last two were in a plastic cage along with my clownfish to try to bond them but the clownfish survived and the anemones melted.

btw, rock anemones are doing fine.

I think it's inescapable that my tank is not mature enough for BTAs but I have no idea why not. If you can comment and/or direct me to a thread or article, I'd be very grateful. Also any sense of how I will know when the tank is ready....I don't want to murder any more anemones.

Do you happen to know what your parameters are?
Also, what kind of lighting are you incorporating?

Chemistry is normal except that I have to use GFO to bring down phosphate. That has declined as follows:

Ok, so your lighting appears good.
Do you know what your phosphates are currently? Being almost .5 is probably the demise

will check again later today and post. If you have any suggestions on lighting let me know. For now, the anemones are extinct except for the rock ones. Any guides on how long the tank needs to settle? Are there additives of bacteria etc that would help? I'm impatient which is never good for a reefkeeper but my dealer calls most of the shots.
