Hi guys, looking for a few suggestions on how to remedy this.

Had my anemone sitting in my tank for a few weeks and it wasn’t moving so I decided About a week ago to add a clam.

I came home today to find that my anemone for some reason has just decided to move right up against the clam.

Should I be worried about this, the clam isn’t snapping closed or reacting to the anemone.

I presume it will be a problem if the anemone continues to move and engulfs the clam

Update*
I can’t remove the clam as his foot and the lower area of his shell are embedded deep within a rock.

Ive made the environment next to the anemone as uncomfortable as possible, he is now slowly moving away from the strainer which is resting on/jamming into him.

Might leave the strainer on top of the clam for a while as he can still get light and water flow through it.

Careful with metal in your tank, I’d use a plastic cup with holes drilled into it and weighted down by rocks superglued to it or tied down with fishing line :)

I’ll try and buy suitable plastic today thanks for letting me know, wouldn’t want anything to leech into the tank

A solo cup or similar works great and is easy to punch holes into. I’ve used disposable plastic cups in my tanks as nem boxes for months with no issues :)

You could change the flow, sometimes that can make a nem want to move

Just an update for those interested

Ended up just deciding to leave the clam and the anemone

The anemone tentacles have been brushing all over the clam for the two days since I posted.

Neither the clam or anemone seem to react to any of the contacts between them despite the tentacles directly touching the body of the clam, in-fact the clams siphon is almost always directly resting against a few tentacles.

Whenever I put any meaty food or protein on the tentacles it seems to react instantly, is the body of a clam different?.

I guess I will keep an eye on them and post if anything else happens, but it looks like the only visible issue so far is the tentacles blocking off light.
