Hey everyone,

I have a 16 month old 230 gallon (maybe medium) stocked FOWLR tank (please tell me if im getting to my stocking limit). I have a flame angel, melanuras wrasse, 2 clowns, foxface, blue spot puffer, naso tang, 2 starfish and various snails and a urchin. I'm leaning towards a juvenile Koran or Emperor, but definitely open to other species suggestions. I'd consider myself an experienced aquarist but not an expert by any means. My understanding is large and small angelfish species are compatible, but are they when the large angel is a juvenile? Any suggestions on other large species that might suit my tank better would be appreciated! Also let me know if you think I'm close to my limit on fish. I don't want it overstocked! I appreciate you experts. You always have solid advice.

Scott

ok so i had a lemonpeel angelfish and i bought a baby CB goldflake angel the lemonpeel was not happy but it never hurt the goldflake it just kinda waved its tail as it this was in a smaller thank than urs aswell so you might not even have that in ur tank

Large and dwarf angels are absolutely compatible, unless you’re going to get an absolutely tiny specimen, I wouldn’t worry too much about the flame. I would just make sure that there are ample hiding places for the new fish to retreat to in case of any aggression.

As for overall stocking levels, IMO between the naso and a large angel like an emp or Koran I would stick to fish that get under a foot after that.

If you can get an auto-feeder you could do a large group of disbar/ignitus or lyre tail anthias to add some additional color!

Great! Thank you for the advice! I'll have to look into the groupings you mentioned. I've only had a pink square anthias years ago. Appreciate it!

Ok, that's reassuring then. Appreciate the response!
