So sorry to hear about your tank, but happy to see you are jumping back in. I have a ton of dry rock I'm not using, happy to give it to you to get you started back up. Only issue would be shipping it.

Thanks mate. I really appreciate the help. I collected over 200lb of natural rocks for the new tank and I am cycling them just over a year now. I used various types of bacteria to cycle them.

Hello everyone,

Its been little over 3 weeks since I restarted the tank. Everything looks smooth for now. As I mentioned earlier I planned a refugium for this tank. I got some chaeto from one our member here. He sent me a ton of chaeto for free. This is possibly one of the reason I like this forum so much. I added most of my fishes for this tank last week. There are 2 interesting observations to mention. pH of this tank is running pretty nicely. It stays between 8.1-8.2 on average and I think this is partially due to the chaeto as I run the refugium on reverse light cycle with the tank.

The other interesting part is my phosphate. Like my all other tanks this one is also bare bottom with very little rocks in the display as I like minimalist rockscape. I seeded the tank AF pro bio S and bio S but now I am not dosing them daily. i am dosing 2 drops of each once a week. But interestingly there is no phosphate registering in my Hanna low range checker. I know there is possibly some PO4 which it can not detect but still its pretty low. I have currently 7 fishes in the tank and I feed them 3 times a day with variety of frozen food. There is no ammonia, no nitrite and a very less amount of NO3. It seems the fuge is working well. I will know more in coming months but its nice to not worry much about these issues for now.

Update time,

Tank is running pretty smooth.

Parameters:
dKh: 136-140ppm (7.5-7.8)
PO4: 0 Hanna low
NO3: 2-5 ppm aquaforest NO3 test

I am not measuring the other things currently but will start doing it in a month time.
Weekly water change is good and i am dosing 10 ml of AF component 123 to hold everything steady. I generally add 4 drops of AF probio s weekly after water change but nothing after that.

Now, the more interesting part. As I mentioned earlier that I want to do this tank differently. So, I am focusing mainly on high in and high out. my current fish stock is,
  1. 2 paired clowns
  2. Carpenter fairy wrasse
  3. Blue throat fairy wrasse
  4. Yellow captive bred tang
  5. Desjardini sailfin tang
  6. Spotbreast angelfish
I fed the fish 5 times a day 2X mixture of pellet and 3X frozen food.
I am running a chaeto fuge which is growing pretty well and keeping my tank clean.

Now for the acros. I decided this tank will be deepwater/smooth skin/tabling acros dominant with favias and nothing else. Possibly couple of tenuis or efflo but thats all. i made a list and started collecting few. I still have a long way to go but will keep it updated with all new ones. Currently I have,
  1. Vivid Confetti
  2. SC Orange Passion
  3. Ultimate Efflo
  4. Aris Avalanche
  5. Princess Disastah Granulosa
  6. Superman Table
  7. BC aquatic man table
  8. RR Northern Crush
  9. CC Retina Blaster Suharsoni
  10. Z's Prize
  11. Vivid kiwi strawberry

Lol... the unicorn is still sleeping :p . Its a small tiny green frag. The tank is still new so not much of growth. Will see if its encrusted.
