i have a 4-bulb t5 fixture with two actinic and two daylight bulbs. i am looking to add an affordable (under 100) LED for some shimmer and highlight effect. i have sufficient growth from the t5, so this is more aesthetic with some growth benefit for any beginner sps i might head into.

i found this set of fixtures on ebay and am curious if anyone has any experience they can share:

Thank you!

tank:
75 gallon generic
48" long x 18 wide x 21 high

found these two reviews:

https://www.amazon.com/WavePoint-40-watt-Photon-Energy-48-Inch/dp/B0002DKEDS#customerReviews

2 star:
lasted less than a year. granted it was getting some moisture but not much. You would think they would make these waterproof I mean come on they are for an aquarium. It is a moist environment and no one uses covers. That being said the light was amazing and bright deep blue when it worked corals looked amazing.

5 star:
Works great bright

What size tank do you have? I doubt that light will add much as it will be easily overpowered by your T5s.

I am running a 6 bulb t5 set up on my 90g and I just made a thread about adding an LED bar too. I was considering the sBar for SB Reef Lights.

Orphek OR is another option.

48" long 75 gallon tank.

found your thread

Thanks for those links. I'll be investigating those!

So I would also like to remind you that the Kessil lights get much better shimmer than other LED’s because of their dense matrix. I’m not saying spend money on Kessils but maybe consider a couple or few cheaper dense matrix LED options comparable to Kessil if you really are going for the shimmer effect!

That's actually something I am looking at because my wife fell in love with the shimmer at Aquarium in Knoxville. Most of their tanks have kessil and look amazing

Wish I could point you towards some I know they’re out there! But if that’s what you’re looking for it’s definitley the way to go.
