It’s November, I can finally make references to Rudolph.
Since everyone seems to like seeing my rescue efforts, I have decided to post about my first saltwater rescue from September 16th.
I went all over Southern Ontario searching for a yellow watchman goby. I mean like 15 saltwater fish stores and they all had none. Finally I decided to check this little Chinese store that I hate because I was desperate. I hate the store because they house the fish awfully, there’s always diseases and what not and the fish are crammed into 1-3gallon compartments. It’s really not pretty. Anyways, in one of those compartments there was literally 15 gobys piled on eachother and there in the back was a single super small yellow watchman. He was cut up, had almost no dorsal fin and... was missing half his face. Yes, you read that right. I talked them down to lowering his price as much as I could and took him home.
Since then, scarface lives in my main DT. He mainly sits upfront guarding my plate corals. I’m pretty sure his face is permanently special but his fins are growing back. He’s very active and eats super well.
Here’s some pictures of scar so you can see his face/ cuteness etc.
Side note:
I am a big lover for misfits because I was once one myself. Everyone wants the gorgeous healthy fish, but I really love the guys that need some love and tlc. It really makes me happy to save what I can and watch them progress. Cheers everyone!
