Ok folks here we go. Is there a difference between live phyto that needs to be refrigerated vs the stuff that does not?
I plan on introducing a clam into my 210 and more copepods. Phyto is great stuff for coral, pods, and clams. Overall used correctly its just great. So I want to know the difference between the stuff that folks get from Algaebarn (live) versus the stuff Brightwell manufacturers is there a real difference? Thanks for any info.

Seems like the first two will do what I need but I still don't understand the difference between live and nonlive.
I am wondering if the stuff that needs to be refrigerated might be better. this is the ultimate question.

I’ve used Seachem Phytoplankton and Zooplankton for a decade. I have a mixed reef with 6 clams.

I put a cloud of it over each once per week, with no flow, and they all “pump” once or twice pulling that water in.

It is good? I don’t know. I know after 4 years it’s not bad.

Somethings are merely a leap of faith.

That clam is very nice sized. I don't like stuff I have to refrigerate. I am going to try both those seachem makes a decent product anyways.

If you are just feeding coral and clams then the BA dead phyto will get you by. But the benefits of live phyto are so strong that once you appreciate that you wont want to go without.
Try culturing your own Tetraselmis. It is easy and a lot cheaper. My Gonis and Alveoporas are super fat and fluffy. I rarely clean my glass and maintain very low nutrients with ease.
Im not going back.
