Hi everyone… i have been using the blue fritz rpm salt mix for awhile … and i kind of want to try the blue bucket red sea salt mix…
I want to try it because im dosing using the 4 part RCP complete reef care …
And want more stabilized alk, ca and mg

If the salts mix to vastly different parameters when doing water changes add some of the new salt to your existing and each water change add more of the new salt until you are mixing 100% of the new salt.

I don't think you're going to get more stable parameters from a different salt.

you will get different parameters, and the biggest reason to change is if a salt mix is closer to what you want.

I agree.

So to bring this thread back- i am going from reef crystals to nyos pure starting tomorrow. Would it be ok if In just go with my normal 10% wc or should i do a little less for the first time?
You should be fine.
I’ve used NYOS from the beginning and all I will tell you is it’s something that I personally can’t get local and it is out of stock quite frequently online so if you do a lot of water changes or if you have a bigger system, I would keep a few buckets/boxes on hand. Here’s a video if you care to watch as Kenny talks about it at about the 2 min mark. They recently just switched from instant Ocean to NYOS and he talks briefly about how they transitioned.

I don’t think anything needs to be worried about except alk changes if doing significant water changes.
