Hi all, I just got a new hanna dKH checker. I tested my new, lightly stocked reef and was surprised to get a reading of 6.2. This seemed extremely low to me so I tested it at least 7 times and got either 6.2 or 6.4. I then tested my new saltwater I made for a water change made with reef crystals and somehow got 5.8... somehow lower than my reef, so I tested that numerous times and keep getting the same result. Could I have gotten a bad tester?

Not likley a bad tester. Most likely low Alk on your salt mix. Best thing to do is take a sample of water to your LFS and have them test it and compare.

You were right, bad salt mix somehow. Brought sample to the fish store and they got the same reading as me. Thanks for the help
