Any reefers with a pool...salt or regular?

120 is way too high for TA! It should be no higher than 80 for a saltwater pool. You should add more muriatic acid and try to get to 7.0 until it equalizes.

Well crap! The pool store where I've been getting some things recommended 120 as a target! I just raised it from 80 to 120! They also recommended Free Chlorine 1-3. 3-5 seems really high? Is that comfortable? Mine is at 3 at the present .

I added some acid last night and lowered the pH from 7.8 to 7.4. I'll further lower it and monitor the alkalinity. Is the alkalinity issue because of scaling?

What do you recommend for calcium?

First thing is not to take much of the advice from the pool store, who's main goal is to sell you overpriced chemicals most of which you can get at the grocery store. Go to that site (TFP - Trouble Free Pool) I listed and look around. You should be using liquid bleach only for any chlorine needs that are not met by your salt generator. NOT the pucks! To raise pH, use Baking soda, to lower it, Borax. Muriatic and Cyanuric acid you can get online. Nothing else is needed. Keep the levels at what TFP recommends. FC should be 3-5. If you are still in startup mode (under 30 days running) then there are a couple special things to add, but I suspect you have already added those. With a saltwater pool, care is cheap and easy if you follow the TFP way!

Thanks. Yeah I use baking soda in the large bags from Sam's, Muriatic acid from Lowe's.

Yes, pool has been running a little over 3 months. Salt in about 2 months ago. Thanks again for the link!

I agree about the pool store, also seriously doubt their water testing as well. What do you use to measure stabilizer(cyanuric acid)?

I use the high quality test kit from that site and the pool calculator which tells how much to add. Works great! I just got 20lbs of CYA as I have not added any yet since I am still coming out of my startup procedure. I am using pucks until I use up what I was given and liquid bleach from SafeWay until I add my salt. My CYA test still shows 0. I always have a puck or 2 in the skimmer basket and add bleach every other day.
