Any reptile lovers out there?

Hey now. I love reptiles. I only have a leopard gecko but I really want more. Not only are they fun, I find that reptile enclosures are very instant gratifying. Sure it takes a while, but you are not waiting for things to grow and settle in. I’d love a chameleon in the future.

anyone else love reptiles? I feel most people who like fish have reptiles and even reptile lovers have an aquarium or two.

Yes! While saltwater is something new for me, I have been keeping reptiles for over 20 years haha. I posted my current setups. I will say my favorite reptile that I have owned is my false water cobra , they are very active and intelligent snakes.

Water dragons, redtail boas, emerald tree pythons, and a couple monitors always peaked my interest. Had a water dragon for a while but he ended up getting an infection in his foot and died. (Most likely 100% my fault)

I was deathly afraid of nope ropes after living in TX as a kid and moving back to Ohio where I had an unfortunate run in with a large black snake while picking raspberries. Held that until one day while managing a Petco one of our frequent customers asked to look at a baby redtail boa. I opened the drawer for him and told him that he would have to get her out. Another customer asked a question so I turned to answer it and the customer with the snake asked why I wouldn't touch them. So I told him I was scared to death. When I turned back around he put this 12" long baby redtail in my palm. I fell in love.

Pretty much got me over my fear of snakes, at least constrictors, but I will not mess with a ball python to this day! Venomous nope ropes are a different beast all together.

Still won't handle scorpions or tarantulas either.

I always wanted to build a terrarium with essentially a large fish tank at the bottom and put some archers in the water (plus some other random fish) and something "on land" that wouldn't mess with the archers. All planted with live plants. One of the people I worked with was the reptile queen and learned a tone. She kept some snakes and I think a Tokay Gecko. The kind that can break your finger if they bite you.

Used to keep quite a few. Whole assortment of corn snakes, king snakes and common boa, dwarf boa, hog nose. Yemen Chameleon, Tokay Gecko, Blue Tongue Skink. Also kept aquatic turtles, leopard tortoise, horned frog, scorpions, about 20+ tarantulas, Trap door spider, praying mantids, stick insects, giant millipedes.

Had to sell up when my partner got sick as I no longer had time to care for them or enjoy them.

I've had so many reptiles its hard to remember them all. I guess my favorite was my Savanah monitor that i got as a hatchling and had until he was about 3 feet long and weighed in at about 6 pounds. I just recently raised a hatching super stripe ball python and actually re homed him to make room for my reef tank. They are amazing animals and many people afraid of snakes and lizard do so out of ignorance as to what they are all about. Love snakes , lizards, and amphibians as well!!

I have had all kinds of reptiles. Snakes and lizards. Pythons, boas, chameleons, water dragons, iguana, gecko variety, bearded dragons, all kinds. Love them. Probably get some chameleons again. Loved my nosy be panthers and my normal old veiled. Had em 4 years or so.

In my youth... During the 80's, I had a breeding pair of Nile Monitors and a breeding pair of Golden Tegus. Several snakes, though I was never as big a fan of snakes as of lizards.

Had gotten rid of nearly all my reptiles off before I met my wife. She didn't care for reptiles, the only one I had left was a Savannah Monitor. Big old fatty, weighed about 15 lbs. Used to walk him around on a leash :D Anyway, I gave him to another amateur herpetologist when my wife and I were married.

15 pounds...i guess they will eat as much as you feed them. Used to give mine eggs and he would love eating them shell and all

like this? It had poison dart frogs on land and fish in the water (obviously). This was my wife and I’s paladarium. It’s gone now.

I love reptiles!!

I’ve kept red tails, beardies, created geckos, box turtles, monitors etc.

I recently moved and am still trying to facilitate the large aquarium in the living room (have an office pico for now) but eventually I’d really love to get a Tegu. Same look as the monitor just a little nicer to be around haha.

I only have the rainbow boa.
I had a albino red tail boa thats in a breeding program now.

Parents are superstitious about letting reptiles into the house. So no snakes...yet. I'm thinking of maybe purchasing a rainbow boa, bluestripe ribbon/puget sound garter, or rough green snake once I've moved out...
