Any reptile lovers out there?

We used to have a Bearded Dragon called Rex until "he" laid a clutch of eggs (they weren't fertilised) and was renamed Rexina :D. But we gave her to a friend when my wife was expecting our first child for health reasons.

They make nice pets and are very characterful lizards, but their mouths and claws are full of salmonella bacteria, so aren't safe around young children or pregnant women. It's an evolutionary characteristic of predators common in most reptiles, so that any prey that is wounded but manages to escape will die of blood poisoning and it's body can be eaten later... The most famous example of this are Komodo Dragons, you DON'T want to be bitten by one of those bad boys!

Cats are the same to a lesser extent, hence the cool Ted Nugent song "cat scratch fever" which is why i'd never have cats around young children or my pregnant wife (not to mention the Toxoplasma Gondii cat parasite that infects the brain and turns people into crazy cat ladies).

Once our kids are older I will get another dragon, unless we decide to have a 4th kid. But I am tempted to see what sort of pet the amazingly beautiful Panther Chameleon would make - Just look at how awesome these guys are!:

We do not have an abundance of reptiles, just one we found a few months ago. A neighbor found a snake slithering around the subdivision and posted it on our HOA page, ended up being a ball python. We took it in and he is currently living like a king. Most people around here destroy snakes, my girlfriend will just pick them up and relocate them to safer spots.
