Anyone enjoy woodworking?

@Canan, you may have given me an idea of what to do with these. I did end up with some raw materials from Irma. Obviously just large pines, but I'm open to ideas from my fellow friends of sawdust.

Very nice! I love the live edge with hairpin legs. I have a live edge black walnut coffee table with hairpin legs, I didn’t do it so I haven’t posted it.

Being out of work has been tough for me, I just can’t handle sitting around and I can’t do much not walking. Needing some very simple things to do I decided to finish some cross sections of wood I cut. Left is white oak I trimmed in my front yard, Center is red cedar I cut down at work 8-9 months back and right is black walnut also from work. All sanded, polished and finished with paste wax. Nothing too technical but it certainly passed some time for me.

I think these needs to be dried first.

2 of them can be used as a leg for a live edge coffee table (oak or walnut, 6 feet length and maybe 2-3 feet wide), it will look strong!!!
I have one 6 feet and one 3 feet long ash slab wood (around 2 feet wide) planning to make a big coffee table for the living room with these kind of rigid and wide slabs. (This is a quite big project for me but I will share the end result once I am done :))

The grains are looking amazing. They may show their grains more with Danish Oil.
Have you flatten them? This was the most difficult part of this project for me :)

Thank you! They were pretty fun. The cuts were pretty good to start with I made sure since I was going to take them. But to get them really flat I used a router with a similar jig to this:

Oil probably would have been a better choice, I used the wax because I had it sitting around.

I just remember all that shaved pieces, I had flatten 4 round slabs like that in one shot with a similar jig and at the end of the day I was having a huge pile of shaving dust clean along with a good amount of back pain :)
But its worth!!!
I am about the finish the other 3 (2 of them are with dutchman) and will share them also.

@kschweer, your hallway picture reminded me of my foyer redo several years ago. Before and after pictures, even though the front door wasn't painted yet. Here's the best part...the foyer used to have a coat closet. We don't have coats where I live because we don't need them. So it was closed off and became what you see in the last picture....lol.

Oh I like that.

Thank you, That has taken me the last 2 years to complete. I did all of the work myself. I actually mixed concrete for the footing and the wall, from bags in a wheel borrow it took 210 bags total. I can't seem to sit still on the weekends I have to be doing something. I did all of rock work myself also. Reef fish aren't the only fish I like to keep. My granddaughter swims in the pond with the Koi in the summertime. Still a few small details to finish up on the steps. Not sure what I might do this summer? Maybe Ill actually just relax!

I am so happy I found this thread, woodworking is a big hobby of mine! Some of my more recent projects I actually took pictures of... as well as some of the stands I have made. I just turned the 125 into a reef and redid the stand/canopy. I will try to remember to take some pictures of it to share!

Wow!! Very impressive. Is that cedar table too one slab or is it 2 joined?
