Hi All...
Here's a blanket chest I built for my wife a Christmas or two ago. All in cherry with a tung oil finish, the inside was sealed with shellac.
:)

I like it!!
Well I waited so long to finish my aquarium stand project that a lot of my oak barn wood rotted from sitting out in the back yard. So we decided on a two tone look and I finally got the project finished up. I’m really happy with it and like the two tone look a lot. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but we have a very modern/rustic decor thing going on in our living room and this ties in nicely.

That is a nice big stand.
I enjoy it but I’m absolutely terrible. Woodworking is a very difficult skill to master.

It took a long time to finally build a few cabinets in my basement workshop! Not perfect, but I like the hard maple look! I even made dovetail drawers, drawers, and doors have self-closing hardware!
All the wood was rough cut, bought locally at a wood-products company.
Glad you like ........

The lower counter is solid hard maple 7/8", the top counter section are 2x4's glued/laminated. I'm not really happy how the 2x4's came out, might do that part again.

Here’s some of my toys. I’m currently building a stand and canopy, check it out in my build thread. Poplar face frame, inset doors, etc.

Spalted maple and epoxy cutting board. Made it as a Christmas gift for my bother and his family, they just moved to Maine from Atlanta, so something a little Maine like, I hear they have a few trees there 20200928_170304.jpg

I need to get my wife to request me to make something so I could justify purchasing some of those. I need to find another hobby about to be done with my daughters volleyball and swim.

This is what I did. I renovated the kitchen and used half what I saved to buy a bunch of Festool. Every year I buy another couple pieces.

I would start with either the track saw or the Domino. Then a couple sanders. Once you start getting them you won’t like your other tools though. My Kreg jigs feel like trashy Chinese kids toys.

Definately saves money when you do the work yourself! I've justified many tools that way. But I do like my Kreg Pocket Jig :)
