I too am interested in this. My question is what happens as the frags become larger? do they eventually encrust to the rock to support the weight or could the acrylic rod eventually lose its strength in the epoxy?

Either or. I have giant colonys with just a few centimeters of encrustment. Think it depends on the particular specimen. More likely to have a failure in the epoxy before anything else.

I just wonder if this colony is suspended 3-4 inches out off the rockwork what will happen when the colony gets 10+ inches wide.
