Anyone have freshwater tanks?

I'd love to see some. I'm assuming most people start with freshwater. Has anyone given them up completely or do you do both now?

I'm actually interested in building a planted tank. I'm eyeballing the new red sea 900 3xl tank. A huge planted discus tank would be awesome. I wish they had a sub forum in here like they do with lounge and random sub forums

Used to have a planted pea puffer tank, he was wild caught, which I wasn’t told.
So he didn’t do very well, only lasted about 2 months.
Before that had 3 betta planted tanks, but decided to switch to saltwater.

Yes that would be great! I've given the planted aquarium thought but I havent committed to it. I do have plants since i dont like the look of fake ones but it's nothing crazy like I've seen on youtube videos and stuff

My pea puffer didnt make it either.. I was really upset since I had wanted one for so long. Everything was according to the book so I'm not sure what went wrong

Same here, he was the only guy in the tank too.
Planted with a hairgrass carpet.
Snails, bloodworms he just wouldn’t eat.

I've got two 6 gallon tanks, side by side. It all started when I was at a friend's house that just started a fw tank as well. I've always wanted fish so I bought the two tanks. First tank has tetras and 2 Cory pandas and some shrimp. Second tank has a pea puffer, 2 ottos, and 2 julii corys.
The tetras are boring. Should have gotten something else. Love the pea puffer though. Just had this setup 2 months ago. Then last month I just got my 100 gallon reef tank.

Snails, bloodworms he just wouldn’t eat.

Mine would peck at frozen brine shrimp but I dont think he was actually eating enough of them. Plus a whole cube was just way too much and too risky leaving any sitting for him to eat

What kind of tanks are those? Also maybe add a dwarf frog in? They're always fun to watch.

I feed my puffer with tongs once a day. If I just dump the food in, he doesn't go for it. He eats frozen blood worms, brine and mysis shrimp. I just break a frozen piece off and put it in a small container in the fridge.

The tanks are Fluval Edge tanks. Very nice tanks, but a pita to clean / work on inside.

I was thinking assassin snails, but it would also kill my nerite snail and my shrimp. Might do loaches if it gets out of control.

Yeah just be careful I had a snail infestation once and it got soooooo bad really quick. I was a beginner and it was a horrible experience lol But in my defense I had never seen snail eggs so I didnt know what to look out for.

Haha. Yeah. I keep finding egg sacs. Didn't snails can lay them so fast.

Bought a Fluval Spec V several years ago to keep a betta that my in-laws bought my son. Since then, two bettas have come and gone, but I kept the tank and decided that I would complicate my life more by starting a nano planted tank. Right now there are only two emerald dwarf rasboras in there (soon to be a few more), but plan on adding some red cherry shrimp. I have a single T5 over it and inject CO2, but not adding more than just a few ADA iron tabs every 5 months. Bi-weekly water changes when I remember and that's it. Once a month a prune the plants (forget what it's called), brilliant green/red and yellow.

I had 2 reef tanks . A 80 gallon rimless and a 90 gallon but decided to change my 90 to a Malawi cichlid tank so I could free up some time for me in other things ! 2 reef tanks kept me busy even with automating a lot of equipment on my 80.
I have enjoyed the Malawi tank a lot . A ton of movement and a ton of color and much easier ! I done a fishless cycle and dosed ammonia to get up to 3ppm as I was planning on adding 35 fish at once and I did and it worked out great . I only lost 2 fish out of the 35 .
