Anyone on a diet?

Oops I wrote [kcal] instead of [cal]..lol.. :p
I am 5"3'ft tall and weigh about 117 lbs right now so I guess I can say that I am a small person!
I try to work out at least 30 mins every day and walk to school which takes about 20mins. I am now trying to focus on my core exercise more.
What kind of food did you have when you first started your paleo diet? I am trying to stay away from any processed food or food that contain high level of carbohydrates (white rice, bread, etc...), but it's kinda difficult because I love having cookies with coffee.

Anything that comes from nature, or was living at some time, except grains (wheat, quinoa, rice, oats etc) and legumes (beans, lentils, peanuts etc)

I ate pretty much all proteins except beef. I slowly started introducing it back into my diet about a month ago. Luckily I am a hunter and had 2 wild deer in the freezer.

All kinds of veggies except anything related to soy. My main source of carbs was sweet, red, and russet potatoes. Some nights I wouldn't eat any carbs but made sure to get them in during the day so I had energy

I was a processed carb/sugar addict before! I would binge eat noodles and rice with meals. I'm from Louisiana so rice is a big staple in all meals. So I had to break my addiction to those foods and just do without them

no bread? i would die
I didn't say it was easy lol. Apparently gluten free bread isn't too horrible for the diet, but better to go without.

my wife gets a lot of the gluten free stuff. some of its alright, certain things you can definitely taste a huge difference.

Keto diet is the only one that worked for me. 15 pounds in the first 2 weeks, my hubby has lost almost 35 over the past 2 months! But it is very hard to stick with and very easy to gain the weight back. It is a high fat no sugar diet. You get to eat a ton of meat, cheese, butter, and such, which is great, but no pasta, bread, chocolate etc, which sucks lol[/QUOTE

I've never heard of keto diet before! It sounds very interesting...I like how you can still eat meat and cheese and lose weight at the same time :) Do you also exercise daily?

My morning breakfast is a homemade Oat Banana Raisin muffin made without flour. The recipe is based on THIS ONE, with the exception that I use Peanut Butter instead of Almond Butter, add 2/3 cup of raisins, and bake it a total of 35 minutes. I also don't use a blender....I use a food processor.

It's pretty taste....the raisins really add that needed texture and taste.

first and foremost... CLEANSES ARE JUNK! don't strip your body of the nutrients it needs. doing a cleanse is like doing a water change with tap water... you just DONT. 8 pounds at 5'3" and 117 is tough. at best you have 5 pounds of water weight, so being realistic is a must. secondly, one should never look at themselves in relation with a number on the scale. your body composition isn't a number. with that said, you can certainly follow some fad or crash diet but i guarantee you that you'll gain it all and MORE within 6 months. in order to truly get to the place you're talking about you should definitely eat way more than 1,000 calories a day. twice that. but not in just 3-4 meals. space it out to 6-8 meals, 10 if possible. by doing so you not only lessen risk developing an eating disorder but you always keep some gas in your stomach. therefore its ALWAYS running, by running it breaks down calories. DEFINITELY engage in an hour a day of some type of exercise where you elevate your heart rate and preferably sweat. the key to a proper, healthy weight loss is adherence. obviously cutting out sugars, empty carbs, and non essential fats is going to help well. and if by chance you're already doing say 45 mins of cardio a day... add in some circuit training, weighted resistance burns more calories than cardio anyday.

I lost 15 pounds in 8 weeks eating half of everything. Stop all soda especially diet, and alcohol.
I ate fast 3 meals per day and still lost all that weight.
Also, walk 8-10k steps per day and you'll loose a ton of weight.. Trust me.
Also eat gluten, it's good for you.

First and most important is that you make sure you are balancing what you eat. Eat the correct balance of protein/carb/fat. If you are on a diet that requires you to drastically increase your intake percentage of one and drastically reduce your intake percentage of another is going to set you up to fail. It is best to also skip all the crazy diets that remove something completely because in reality that is not something you will probably sustain in the long run. Remove all the processed foods that you can, limit the simple sugars and simple carbs and increase exercise and I promise you will be on the road to success. If 8lbs is all you need to lose for your "beach body" then you aren't all that big to begin with so it shouldn't be a drastic change to what you are already doing. I would venture to guess you might not be drinking enough water through the day and probably lacking the proper amount or quality of exercise weekly.

I know people will get upset with this but gluten free diets are best for people with ciliac disease, not as a normal diet choice. 1000 calories is far too few calories. Eat clean, no soda, sugar, refined/processed foods. Eat a lot more protein and fiber. It will make you feel full longer and help you regulate glucose levels better than eating sugar. No ramen! That has sooo much more sodium than any person needs. Vegetables should be the first thing on your plate.
I am not a dietitian, but I work regularly with them. Healthy eating has been something I've been refining for years.

I love anything that is based on oatmeal...!! Have you tried oatmeal cream cookies from Native Food Cafe? They are just awesome and I was once almost addicted to them XD I will definitely try your recipe! Thanks for the info :)

Yep I know I am on a harsh diet! I am doing a photoshoot with my friends before we graduate from college this summer so we are just trying to get in shape for it :) I am going to get back to my regular and healthy meal pattern after that! I have been doing at least 30 mins of cardio a day plus some weighted exercise. Thank you for your opinion!! :)

Yes sodas are really bad...I am glad I am not into either soda nor alcohol.
You sure walk a lot!! I should try to walk more instead of taking uber or bus :)
It's been really hot for a couple of days where I live so I haven't had a chance to walk a lot..
Thanks for sharing your experience!

I have to say +1 on keto. It's not hard in that you are hungry, or that the food doesn't taste good (bacon!), but it is hard in that the food takes longer to prep, and you have to watch little compromises.
It has seriously helped me with things other than weight loss. My brain fog and insomnia are better when I am on keto.

I don't know if 8lbs is enough to be in shape haha..I guess I am trying to lose fat and gain more muscles :) I think I am drinking enough water ( at least 1L per day) and doing moderate exercise (30 cardio + 30 weighted exercise) but I will work out harder to gain more muscles! Now I am able to do 30 push-ups :))) Thanks for the tip! I will plan out more balanced meal plan from now on!

Eating healthy is making my life more enriched these days! Although I agree I am eating too few calories...I will eat more when my photoshoot is over :) Thanks for sharing your opinion ;)

When you're on a keto diet, do you stay away from eating fruits and beans? Is the diet effective in losing belly fat? :0

I lost over 115lbs in 14 months through diet and exercise and part of that diet was a quarterly cleanse. This is only to help mix thinks up and it does work. I have also been able to maintain my ideal weight for the past two years. On a regular day with my strenuous exercise (heavy cardio) I cunsume anywhere from 3,600-3,800 calories across 6 meals. I agree with most of you post but to say cleanses are junk I strongly disagree.
