Anyone stopped dosing daily bacteria??

Specifically dosing mb7 daily is exactly the same method although there are dozens of other techniques he may employ I'm absolutely not referring to any them hence the title of this thread is not "how do I replicate sunnyx's system". Please keep up or read another thread.
I have an amazing brain coral. I turn around three times and tap the wall twice before turning on the skimmer. When I feed the tank I dip the frozen cube in the sump first and then put it in the plank feeder. I then count to 17 before turning the plank feeder on... Since I have followed that procedure by brain coral looks better and my bacon tastes better....

Now you don't have to replicate everything I do, but maybe the counting to 17 makes sense?

Silly, yes? Looking at one aspect of a person's reported success can be very misleading without other evidence. You asked if you should be dosing bacteria every day. I don't think so and can (but won't bother to) explain why, but my question to you is... why are you?

Thanks Troylee- this isn't my first tank but it is the first time I've dosed bacteria and the clear surfaces / coral growth / water clarity has surprised me. As you say it it doesn't hurt although from these replies people still believe it can upset the tank. Maybe I'll stick with it a bottle or two longer after all!
My tank has ran on it since day one and the results kinda speak for them selves.. could I have done it without bottled bac? Sure, I could have but I wouldn’t have the growth I have and I know that from 20 years experience in the game. I dose a cap of mb7 twice a week and 10 drops of zeobak once a week.

I'll check out your tank thread! I agree, for an extra £20 a month I think it's worth the potential, if not as this thread shows, heavily disputed benefits.

Just thought it was a gimmick.
I've always started with cured live rock so no need for me.
If it's good for you, great. Go for it.
I just never found any use for it.
Personal choice.

As I said it's not from a sales pitch / bottle it's from other members tanks who are using it in a more unconventional way and in excess of what they're recommending on the bottle.

That's from one of his posts - keep wasting more time and you'll find numerous others regarding mb7.

Youre the one who knows its there...you post it...i wonder what issues he was having when he posted this the MB7 cured...waste your money...not time i mean.

He adds mb7 and 2 other things to the diy coral snow.
Whats his reason? I really dont care tbh but im sure its far different from OP's...its not my money im wasting though. Sorry to OP that the vast majority doesnt agree with him/her. Bye bye

Among the things listed is it helps the bacteria to adhere to surfaces, also may add the bacteria to what is pulled from the water column that corals may take in during the coral snow. He has a video on it that I have bookmarked on my home computer after work I can post the link if you would like.

I wasn't asking anyone to agree. I'm interested in hearing people's experiences and opinions. I don't disagree with any of them and I'm completely open to everyone's views and ideas.

Numerous posts of stated they don't think dosing bacteria post cycle is beneficial and I don't have enough knowledge to disagree which is why I haven't. However I've seen several tanks who's owners believe it is very beneficial in several ways and I wondered if anyone had noticed a difference in stopping bacteria dosing.

I like to add some every week. I have no evidence it does anything using it continuously, but I think over time bacteria populations settle and unwanted forms of bacteria may settle in changing the tank towards an undesirable state. Dosing may help keep the forms of bacteria we want in the system

He wasn't having issues. Its how he runs his tank. Maybe someone needs to tell him he is wasting his money :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I do not strictly adhere to sunnys "program". I do use coral snow weekly I dont always add things to it but once every 2-3 weeks I do. I dont see any difference between when I add or not. I started dry rock its been 10 months no real ugly stage. I dont run carbon or filter floss most of the time( in fact I have stopped using filter floss altogether in the last 3 months) tank water never looks terrible but you can see a difference after coral snow for sure for at least 3 days.

Im sorry, but maybe he would say it would be a complete waste of money if it werent for the other 99% of what he does to maintain his tank. Its nightime here now so I have time to use you as entertainment while you claw for anything you can...emojis are cute...A little too cute for me...Ill get a laugh out of everything you say instead. Wait...nevermind...the overwhelming majority stating the same thing ovrr and over again left you already. Thats a sign...youre going to try to lure me back in by quoting my post, right? Well, your words are simply entertainment for me at this point...go on haha

What makes you think that the stuff in the bottle is A) beneficial and B) of the variety that will take hold and multiply and C) if B then why keep adding it?

Did anyone checked the bottle for organic carbon yet? It would definitely make this conversation a little more interesting.
