Apartment Reef 90 gallons

Hey guys. I have been nano reefing for years and I have had a huge itch to get a new big tank. The only thing is I live in an apartment. It is on the first floor tho. I want to get a 90 gallon tank and I plan on staying here for at least 4 years. What are your thoughts? Is it a bad idea? It's a large apartment so I am not worried about tank size and I have insurance for water damage but I am just worried about when I decide to move.

Moving tanks is a PITA, especially the more established it is. That being said, moving a 4' tank isn't the end of the world. I'd vote go for it.

I've moved my 25 twice in the last 2 years. It wasn't fun, but I got it done. I would just make sure the landlord approves the tank. Many have rules about size/gallons, etc...
I've had to stay small at 25 gallons because that's the biggest I could get approved without too much of a hassle. My building does yearly inspections, so there is no hiding it.

4 years is a long time. Good chance you may be out of hobby due to one reason or another before then. If you still have the tank just give yourself atleast a month to break it down to sell. If you're transferring it then just plan ahead and start breaking it down a day or two before the move.

Moving it is the easy part. IMO maintaining it, finding storage space for equipment, and cleaning equipment is the greatest challenge. Having a 120g tank in an nyc apt, I have learned that it's way more difficult for me to perform a simple 30g water change than it is for most. Do you plan on having a QT? That's a headache I never considered until after I had a major crash from infestation.
