I got an update notification for a AOS. I am leaving for vacation for 2 weeks so a little nervous to update now. Any one do it yet? Seems like a lot of updates. hopefully they are getting closer to making PO4 work

5.12_CA25 Release Notes
December 2, 2025

This AOS version:

• Introduces support for Nyos Quantum EQ skimmer pump control via MXM. MXM 1.1.47 firmware is required; update MXMs using the Mobius app.
• Includes updated Trident NP firmware version 54.
• Includes updated Trident ACM firmware version 23.
• Enhances Trident NP Status messages in Fusion and Apex Local.
• Fixes Spring DST bug.

Updates to the Trident NP firmware:

• Adds support for selective calibration; you can now perform calibration for NO3 only, PO4 only, or both.
• Refines the PO4 calibration process.
• Extends the "No Test" error timeout from 24h to 48h to allow extra time after calibration, and replaces the NO TEST in 24H message with NO RECENT TEST.
• Improves the notification when the Trident NP Cleaning Task Part 1 has finished; if you have Trident error alerting enabled, you will now receive an alert when NP cuvette cleaning part 1 is complete. See the notes at the bottom if you do not have such alerts enabled.
• Fixes an edge case bug that could prevent calibration from completing successfully.

Updates to the Trident ACM firmware:

• Adds additional safety drain procedures to prevent cuvette overflow under certain conditions.
• Changes the NO TEST IN 24HRS message to NO RECENT TEST for consistency between the ACM and NP Tridents.

After updating to this newest AOS, wait 5-10 minutes, then update any modules that are listed on the Modules List or other modules listed with the  symbol.

1. Go to the Modules List in Apex Fusion or Apex Local.
2. Click or tap on a module listed with the  symbol.
3. In the Configuration area, select the Update Software option, then click or tap the button.
4. Wait for the module update to complete.
5. Repeat Steps 2-4 for any additional modules listed with the  symbol.

To enable a Trident ACM or Trident NP to send you alerts, follow these steps:

• Select the gear icon associated with the email alert output.
• Type the following line into the email alert outlet: “If Error Tri”.
• Select the autofilled Trident ACM or NP name for the detected Trident.
• Complete the coding line: “If Error Trident_#_3 Then ON” (# will be unique for your installation; it is the Trident’s Aquabus address).
• Click or tap the button.

I think they release them in stages over a few weeks. I dont even see a post on the Apex Fusion forums about it yet. But my apex is asking me to upgrade.

For what it is worth I do not do updates on Friday or Monday. This way if I do something or something fails as a result I'm not down over the weekend. Mondays, well it is after the weekend and usually a busy support day.

I also do not make any changes to my display or support equipment 15 days prior to going out of town. No changes gives me a piece of mind.

This came up on my dash as well. After that last update fiasco people had with apex/dos combo I'm a bit more nervous this time around.

Any more people post update with positive feedback?

A few of us in the NSI / beta group tested this and no issues reported. Both AOS and Trident(ACM & NP) firmware. Neptune does a slow roll out and then general availability on a set day. I think it is probably available to everyone as I have a notification on my Apex even though I'm running the same version outside the build ID difference.

Do you have a trident np? Mine is still a random number generator as far as phosphate goes… any noticeable improvement?

I do, I have both ACM and NP. I am probably a bad hobbyist to ask as my phosphate has been pretty consistent if I am being honest. I also run high nutrients though with Nitrates in the 25 - 30 ppm range and Phosphates in the 65 - 1.2 ppm range.

I would have to go back and check the NP's firmware but recall it was a lot to do with calibration options and process, no test error, and cleaning. There was a few changes prior to that that had to do with phosphate but I do not remember. I'm sorry.

Example below. December 8th test was .83. On the 9th of December I did a water change and that days test was down to .80. So it caught the water change delta. prior to that at the start of the graph you can see it was .70 then slowly raised to .8 and continued until the water change. So in my case it is working pretty consistent as my tank runs with higher nutrients. I will lower phosphate and it will detect it just as it can detect the increase when I don't do anything.

I have struggled on and off with my NP. I ended up doing a RMA on my first NP because I couldn't get it to completely fill the couvette with sample water no matter how much I flushed the lines with a metal tipped Franks F Aiptasia syringe.

My second NP was all over the place until I took it apart and locked the solenoids in place. Half of them were pushed in and not locked into place. I just had to pull and rotate them until they clicked into place.

It's been pretty steady after I did that. The three main issues that I've had that caused mine to be all over the place were clogged tubing, loose solenoids and my couvette not filling.

• Tasks​

  • Tasks are now tagged with functions or devices thatthey apply to, and a tag search field has been addedto the Tasks view.
  • The search field within the Tasks view will now alwaysbe initially displayed.
  • Trident tasks are now more clearly identified as pertainingto either Trident ACM (the original Trident) or Trident NP.
  • Many Module Configuration views now contain a hyperlink tojump to a filtered listing of all Tasks applicable to thatmodule, and its inputs and outputs.

• SMS Notifications​

  As part of compliance with the 10DLC rules now in use bymobile carriers, wedeprecated use of SMSas an alert notification method approximately one year ago.Use of SMS is now completely discontinued, and any alerts thatwould result in communication with an SMS carrier or SMS gatewaywill now be silently discarded.

I personally do not upgrade over the weekends in case something goes south. I will typically run updates Tuesday - Thursday to be safe in case I need to reach support or order something.

However, as a relatively new Apex user, it would have been nice to get a heads up that all of the equipment would be shut off during the update process.

I would have assumed the outlets would go into their fallback state but no, I just watched my entire tank shut off while the update bar progressed.

That was anxiety inducing to say the least. A heads up about losing all functionality for my entire tank for a period of time from Neptune would have been nice. lol

Understand your logic but there is no waiting for anybody to fix anything here.

If anything goes south on Saturday I can take another unit off the shelf and re-program it to be back in business.
