I'm seeing conflicting information online about this. Here is what I want to do:

Test Alk, Ca, Mg, PO4, and NO3.
Monitor pH
Automate powering on/off a standard plug based on the pH results and the Alk results.

Essentially, I want to run the testers and my calcium reactor with Apex.

I believe I can run either the Trident or the Trident NP with the Apex Jr., but not both. Can someone clarify this for me?

If you want to control outlets you will need an Energy Bar of some kind. Do you have one already? If not, get the regular A3 Apex

Yeah, I should have clarified. I'd be getting the EB4 with this. Didn't even know they sold the Apex Jr. on its own.

As a side reply you could also visit Neptune's portal, hit contact us, pre-sale, and ask for other details. You have a pretty good idea of what you want so asking them to give a couple of options so you can price out may be another option.

Sort of like what you want today, maybe tomorrow, etc.

Good advice. I think the decision has been made, though.

I wanted the Apex Jr. with the EB4 and the Triton to save money, but for $200 more I can get the regular Apex with the EB832 and a few more features.

This puts me at about the same price as the Hydros Maven, which at this point seems to be vaporware. I may transition fully to Apex over time.

I honestly don't know that I trust Hydros as a brand anymore due to their handling of the Maven. They keep coming out with new products but refuse to say anything about the Maven.

I've been looking for this on their website and can't find it.

If I can speak Frankly here for a spell might I suggest ignoring the Maven noise? I agree that they announced product availability at a suspicious time (or even Neptune I guess) but honestly it is for the better of the community to just let it ride until they are ready.

I am not actively using any Hydros modules but I have used their Wave Engine LE for a bit and have always experienced quality support in a timely manor. I am a long time Neptune product user so a bit biased but I at least can provided neutral feedback on my experience.

I know it is hard but do your best to ignore the noise if you are interested in their other products. No one needs automated testing at that level to be successful. It is on all accounts a quality of life though which I can relate as a user of the Trident and Trident NP.

Hope your day is well.

For me, Hydros moved past the let it ride stage a long time ago. The product was said to be in beta testing in April of 2024 and that they weren't seeing problems with it. Either that was a lie, or some really big problems developed after that announcement that they don't know how to fix.

They said that tariffs were preventing them from getting parts to build the circuit boards, but that isn't stopping them from building their other devices, including a couple of new ones.

It's pretty clear to me that they only announced the Maven because the Trident NP was coming out in a couple of weeks. They wanted to let potential customers know that they had their own tester coming out pretty soon, which they didn't.

To my knowledge, they haven't even given us a video showing the Maven working in a controlled environment. That's pretty telling.

It has been shown at one of the recent reefing venues. Having said that it sounds like you have your reasons which I can respect. I only suggested it as you sounded like an ecosystem you are interested in. I may have misread.

Didn't mean to derail - sorry about that.
