I'm setting up an auto water change system using the saltwater mixing station in my basement. My hope is to set an optical sensor at the bottom of the new water tank so that it shuts off auto water changes if the tank is approaching empty. However, that is approx. a 50 ft run (below and lateral) to from the tank to the mixing station. It looks like a standard "stereo" cable and I have a bunch of extensions like that that I have used to run an infrared repeater in my theater before. Anybody done anything similar? Any idea of length restrictions?

Thanks

I believe Neptune states 15 feet max. I have used 10-15 foot stereo extension cables and gotten them to work. Recently I setup a friends AWC and had an optical sensor in Water bin, with a 30 foot extension and it would not work. Had to move the FMM near the sensor, and run an Aqua Bus Cable (With USB Extender Cable) back to the EB832.

The aquabus extension is the definitely the more versatile option.
If you do decide to try an OS extension cable, make sure it's got the TRRS type jacks. :)
