How do I remove them without harming the colony? Kind of hard to see them if I take the rock out of the water too. Can I clip the head off to kill them?

Is it a zoa frag with a few polyps or a rock covered with zoas? Cutting them (the aptasia) into pieces will make them reproduce faster. There are critters that eat them. I've heard good things about Berghia Nudis on here.

It's a small rock with 2 different colonies - about 15-20 polyps each. They are starting to spread on that rock with just 1 and now it's 3.

Yep, Aptasia X should do it and I haven't experienced any collateral deaths of coral when using it.

Iny experimce chemical solution never worked with me. It almost always amplified the problem..
Peppermint shrimp or copper band was the best solution that I used and still using for years now.

just use a syringe and squirt some kalkwasser gloop into them, all you need is a little bit just be careful not to get it on the zoas.
