Nassarius, whelk, or other?

My understanding is that they are safe for everything but some corals, and other snails. They will also consume dead fish, but they are not a danger to fish.

Im leaving them in my tank for now, but will remove them before adding anything else to my tank

More than 15 moved to my observation tank. I didnt find anything this Am in my DT.

I really hope I can get to the bottom of why some of my corals that were doing well are no longer thriving.

I guess I'll know if any of the new fish under observation disappear - they have been there for more than a month and are doing well.

The mottling on the siphon looks like predatory whelk to me, though im still not an expert

That's what I figured....and they have a "door trap" which is something I read about.

Perhaps we get more folks into this thread who can confirm 100% but in the link I posted earlier it appears these are the same.

All my other softies are doing fine, my zoas are the only thing dying back (at least those that remain, most got smothered by mushrooms)

A colony on an island rock used to have 200+ polyps, now its down to ~50 and theyre kind of spread out, and they dont open fully. Theyve been like that for months

Get one of these and place a piece of shrimp in it. You will be surprised at what you catch every night. If you removed 10 you have more. Mantis trap.
