Wow, you can tell your corals responding with one water change? That's prrtty amazing. I'm not knocking RSCP, but am amazed that a dramatic change can happen that fast.

No he meant before RSCP he was using Red Sea which he liked better with more vivid colors. He switched from RSCP to AF. lol :D

My tank looked happier with the RSCP. I do roughly 30% water changes to battle nutrients so they're pretty big water changes.
Perhaps is just the change in parameters they're getting used to and need to adjust to. Time will tell, but so far I prefer the Red Sea.

I have just switch to Aquaforest Reef Salt from Salinity, will not be going back. The Aquaforest salt mixes super fast, easy and has left no residue in my mixing container yet. It also has a fresher smell/scent compared to Salinity.

Very impressed with the Aquaforest products so far.

An update from my previous post.
When i come home on Friday i noticed a couple losses , strawberry shortcake completely rtn'd and my red dragon completely rtn'd. Sad day.
So i tested all my levels and no changes in alk , cal, no3, po4, salinity, or temp, mag went up 10. The only changes in the water have been IO to aquaforest. I didnt not do a water change this week so ill see what i walk into this week. Which hopefully is my last week out of town.
Flip side.... everything thing else looks amazing colors are way brighter. With the exception of a purple nana that had no PE.
Imo it could be a good salt only time will tell . just dont transition to fast if you have an astablishhed tank.

This is just my experience and observation with aquaforest reef salt.

I used a bucket a little over year ago when it was first started coming to the states. Over time it appeared my corals just didn't agree with it. I can't fully explain what I mean but we know our tanks and corals and they just did not look happy. Of course it always could be a number of other things and I didn't want to blame the AF reef salt.
Nonetheless when I finished the bucket I went back to my Regular Instant Ocean. Fast forward months go by and I decide to try AF reef salt again.

I am right now finishing up my second bucket and I have to say I see it again my corals do not like this salt.

I will go back to regular Instant Ocean. My sps just love that cheap consistent salt.

I've made two 55 gallon changes with the AF and my corals started to turn pale right away. I'll be going back to IO also. It's cheap and consistent, and my corals where on FIRE before. That's what I get for curiosity.

What are your parameters before and after using the salt??

Ok so 1 month of use. Started on 3/8 with a 20% water change.
3/12 noticed 1 acro slight tissue loss and millie with 50% PE.
3/17 20% w/c. 50/50 aquaforest/IO
3/23 ssc and vivid rainbow slight tissue loss. Purple nana, vivid, bellina no PE.
3/24 20% w/c also 50/50
3/31 ssc gone, red dragon gone,
No w/c
4/7 half 3 acans gone, half 2 enchinatas gone,80% of my acros no PE and all acros pale.
One good thing is all montis look amazingly bright and growing faster then ever. But id rather have all my acros doing well. So im going back to food old fashion IO and ill dose it up to my tank levels before w/c like i used too. Ive had great success with io i just just figured i try somthing new. My mistake.
If it anit broke dont fix it

How is a salt going to cause rtn or stn or any issues at all? I have switched salts without any issues and didn't even mix old and new.
Also no one is going to see good changes in a week from a new salt. Well, unless you were using a horrible salt and mixing it wrong or something.

Just curious, I'm brand new to all of this. We have an 8 gallon biocube, how hard is it to mix your own saltwater if you have an rodi?

It's really easy. All you do is add the amount of RODI water you need to a bucket and heat it to match the tanks temperature. Heating it is important as you need it to be the right temperature to get a correct SG or salinity (salt level) reading. Then add the right amount of salt (it will tell you how much per gallon on the box), test SG or salinity with a refractometer, let the salt dissolve and you're good to go! :)

No kidding? That's it? I'm gonna try this sooner than I expected to. I've read there are apparently different types of salt mixes. What would be the best for us being new and having a tiny 8 gallon biocube?

Who is having issues with parameters not being good? I finally tested a bucket and everything is good except magnesium is a little higher than it states which is at 1500. I see a lot of people saying theirs is 1500 and I am not worried about that I keep mine right under there anyways. I am happy the other parameters tested are spot on though.
Has anyone tested their mag and had it match their paper? Most are right above 1325 or something from what I remember but I have not seen anyone report a bucket being right with the magnesium.

Theres been some bad batches. That they are trying to id.
Like i said before in one month ive had alot of issues and the only change was the salt all parameters where stable.

I went back to Instant Ocean after using Aquaforest Reef salt for 11 months but now the AF buckets are very inconsistent.

I've been using Aquaforest Reef Salt for about year. I've have great success with it. At this point I haven't had issues with inconstancy. I always mix my buckets up well before I use them.
